Tom does not solicit funds or authorize anyone to do so for him. He does not sell his letters or autographs. Unfortunately, the Bureau of Prisons will not allow him to display and sell his artwork, nor can he sell any of his crocheting. Because he is in solitary confinement, he cannot work within the prison system. Nonetheless, he needs funds for everything from tennis shoes to art and crocheting supplies to a request for medical help (yes, inmates are charged $2.00 if they seek care from a nurse!).
